The Fishermen's Mission, with one of their shops located in Helston, run by manager Melinda King is offering continued support to crisis-hit fishermen.

The Fishermen's Mission charity was set up in 1881 to help fishermen and their families "weather the storms of life."

The Coronavirus has hit the UK fishing industry hard and the Cornwall Fishermen's Mission is keen to say that no fisherman or fisherman's family need to struggle alone.

Julian Waring, Fishermen's Mission Fundraising Officer in Cornwall, appeals to local fishermen:

"We are still here to help you. if you are a fisherman on a UK boat; a retired fisherman; or a member of a fisherman's family please do not hesitate to contact us. These are very difficult times and the support we can give you may make all the difference. We will always be there to help and may be able to offer further financial support and access grants for you. Together, we can get through this crisis."

As the effects of the Coronavirus are felt both in the short and the long term, the Cornwall Fishermen's Mission is ideally placed to help with expert knowledge of what's happening locally and nationally and how to get the best support available.

Julian Waring added:

"The Fishermen's Mission can help you if you feel like you are struggling with money worries or feeling isolated and alone. We are here to support you and we are ready to listen. We know that times are tough for fishermen and their families at the moment so please don't hesitate to get in touch. If you need us please call us."
