Popular Helston pasty shop The Cornish Oven will reopen its doors tomorrow with residents very excited to get their 'flaky steak' again.

The Cornish Oven will be opening their pasty shops in Helston (Turnpike Trading Post, Clodgey Lane), Camborne, Penzance and Pool from tomorrow (13th May) at 8.30am.

A spokesperson for The Cornish Oven told Nub News:

"As many will know, we took the decision to go into lockdown back in March and have monitored government guidelines on a daily basis, for a time that was safe to reopen.

"We want to thank our customers because they have been incredibly patient. We have received messages and emails from people asking when will you be open and when can we get our 'flaky steak!' We didn't realise how much we would be missed but it seems you cannot keep someone living in Cornwall far from their pasty!

"The staff have been in regular contact via a WhatsApp group and they have been looking forward to getting back to work. Like many others, we have had to adapt our way of working and we hope that the customers will help us by keeping in mind the 2-meter rule and paying by card for their food.

"We have signs to guide the customers about queuing and don't worry, the staff will still have a warm welcome for the customers, albeit behind a Perspex screen!

"We look forward to seeing everyone and once again, can we thank both staff and customers for their patience during lockdown. Warm wishes from all the team."
