Local superstar Charlie Tonkin, 12, was recently praised by the Mullion Coop for his work to support the local foodbank.
Aspiring baker Charlie, buys ingredients, makes cakes and treats, delivers or posts them - then with his proceeds goes shopping and buys food for the Helston and Lizard Foodbank.
The team from the Mullion Coop, Nansmellyon Rd, heard about his efforts and had a collection and bought him some ingredients to help him out, "we are all so very proud of this young man," Jo Lewis, Coop Member Pioneer for Mullion and Rosudgeon said.
On his website, Charlie is making and selling Chocolate Chunk Brownies, Rocky Road and selection boxes.
How did Charlie get into baking? He told Nub News:
"It all started in the 1st lockdown with a history project and I had to make some rock buns. Then I started baking something different every week and delivering them to my grandparents.
"I started making my family's birthday cakes and I had a lot of compliments, from my family saying you could sell this and people would really like it.
"I had a think about that and I thought it would be good to try and help people in the local area, who had been affected by covid-19 and the lockdown, by baking cakes and treats, selling them and donating the profits to the local foodbank."
So far he has raised around £200, if you would like to place an order and support Charlie and the foodbank, visit his website here.
"We as a team in Coop are full of admiration for local Mullion young man Charlie for all he is doing for the community, proud is an understatement," Jo Lewis added.
