Strong winds spread gorse blaze in Coverack

Fire teams from across the local area have been called out this evening to Coverack.

Numerous fire teams in the local area have been scrambled to tackle a gorse blaze in Coverack.

This evening (19th) at around 10:50pm, an incident on Polcoverack Lane meant call-outs for St Keverne, Mullion, Helston, Tolvaddon, Penzance, St Just, and Falmouth Fire Stations.

Approx 8 hectares of gorse are involved being fanned by strong winds, the crews are using beaters and hose reels to extinguish the fire.

Crews are still on the scene and updates will follow.
