Personnel from the Hawks' 736 Naval Air Squadron at RNAS Culdrose began a daily run around the side of the airfield yesterday morning - at a crisp and clear 7.30am – to raise money for this year's Poppy Appeal.

After completing each 'poppy run' – 5.55km from the 736 hangar to the wardroom – each member makes a donation to the appeal.

A spokesperson for the squadron said:

"We will be joining a virtual community of fellow runners across the UK who are completing our own runs. By taking part in this challenge we'll be raising funds and awareness to support the Royal British Legion.

"Their poppy appeal was founded to help those in need during a national crisis. They are working tirelessly to ensure those who have served are being looked after no matter what challenges they, and the country faces.

"Your donations will mean they can continue to provide life-changing support that our armed forces community needs and deserves."
