Investigations continued late into last night following the "suspicious death" of a 62-year-old woman in Helston yesterday.

A heavy police presence was reported in town by local residents yesterday morning as police were called to an address on Meneage Road, Helston at around 8:30am with a report of concern for a woman.

A 62-year-old woman was declared deceased upon arrival and police continued enquiries well into the night with reports of helicopters circling the town last night.

In a statement from Devon and Cornwall Police, they confirmed the woman's death was being treated as suspicious.

An appeal was then issued for anyone to come forward who may have seen anything out of the ordinary in the Greenbank, Bullock Lane and Meneage Street areas of Helston between the evening of Monday 24th May and this morning, Tuesday 25th May.

No further information has been released at this time.
