Together for nearly 18 years, rock band Point Blank will bid an emotional farewell with their last gig at The Rodney Inn this Friday.
Lead singer Steve Bennallack has been with the band since it formed in 2002, he told Nub News:
"It all started when Barry Griffiths and myself got together, we used to go to the same Harley Davidson repair shop and he mentioned to the person who worked there that he was looking for a singer to form a band and my name came up. At that point, I was just a frustrated karaoke singer so I gave him a ring, we did some songs together and that was it I was in.
"We started this in 2002 and I really didn't think it was going to last but we are still going and it will be 18 years in April, that is pretty damn good."
Their first gig was at the opening of a garden for the Queens Jubilee Celebrations in Fraddon, the band has come a long way since then with many changes to the group over the years.
Steve added:
"When we started we had me as lead singer, Barry Griffiths on lead guitar, Rob Steed on drums, Jim Trentalange was our second guitarist and a guy called Steve Riley was our bass player at the time.
"Steve Riley moved on and we got our current bass player which is Brian Curtis who came to us two years into our journey.
"We have all become great friends and family, it is going to be emotional. But we are going to do what we always do, we will go out in style."
The band would like to give a special thanks to drummer Alan Williams, Sean Love and Andy Howell for their efforts over the years.
The final show kicks off at 21:00, The Rodney Inn, Meneage Street.
