Peacocks staff were left shocked after the sudden closure of the Helston branch this week.

Peacocks closed its doors for the last time on Wednesday (23rd) with staff reportedly only finding out in the morning.

The news was revealed by long-serving manager Lisa Croxen who said Peacocks wanted to keep the Coinagehall Street shop open but they have not been able to come to an agreement with the landlord, who now wants the building cleared out within the week.

Lisa has worked for Peacocks for 16 years, starting out as a part time colleague, and working her way up to be the manager for the last 12 years.

"I am very sad to leave," she added.

"I would just like to say to all my staff past and present thank you, you've been amazing. Thank you so much to all our customers over the years for supporting us, I will miss you. I am gutted not only for myself and staff who have lost our jobs but also for the town with a loss of another shop."

Peacocks have been approached for a full comment.

More to follow.
