Over 700 properties in Helston and the surrounding area have been left without power this evening.

The problem was reported around 7:50pm, with engineers working quickly to restore power to homes in Helston.

A spokesperson for Western Power said:

"We are sorry about the power cut in Helston TR13 and surrounding areas. Engineers are working to have all properties back on by 21:30."

Residents reported flickering lights on Church Street, Tremenheere Avenue, Albion Road and Porthleven.

In an update, Western Power said that the power to remaining homes will be restored by 11pm.
