Last month broadband specialist, Glide, revealed data on the places in the UK with the most opportunities for regeneration for investment in empty residential and commercial properties.

Cornwall was number ten on the list, with 7,457 properties in total.

Nub News has received data back from an FOI request to Cornwall Council on the amount of empty commercial and residential buildings in Helston, Truro and Falmouth in September 2019.

Number of empty residential dwellings in September 2019:

Helston postcode district is TR12 & TR13 = 269

Truro postcode district is TR1 = 268

Falmouth postcode district is TR11 = 278

Number of empty commercial dwellings in September 2019:

Helston postcode district is TR12 & TR13 = 72

Truro postcode district is TR1 = 138

Falmouth postcode district is TR11 = 55

Helston had 269 empty residential dwellings and 72 empty commercial dwellings.

Truro had 268 empty residential dwellings and 138 empty commercial dwellings. 1 less empty residential dwelling than Helston and 66 more empty commercial dwellings.

Falmouth had 278 empty residential dwellings and 55 empty commercial dwellings. 9 more empty residential dwellings than Helston and 17 less empty commercial dwellings.

A spokesperson for Glide, said:

"The research has revealed the high number of empty properties and businesses across the UK, particularly across some of the major northern Council areas.

"But whilst it is troubling to see so much wasted residential and commercial space, it does represent a clear opportunity for developers, and hopefully this study will help prospective investors pinpoint where there is the most potential for growth."
