Police have launched a murder enquiry after an incident at Laflouder Fields this afternoon.

Residents reported seeing a heavy police presence in the village at around 11am with the air ambulance also landing in the area.

On scene, sadly a woman in her 80s was confirmed to have died with an 84-year-old man from Helston arrested on suspicion of murder.

The woman's next of kin have been informed but formal identification is yet to take place.

The 84 year old man remains in custody at this time.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police added:

"Scenes of crime officers remain at the scene and a police cordon is in place whilst enquiries are ongoing.

"Anyone with information which may assist the investigation is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 411 29/5/21."

No further details have been provided by the police.
