A hotel's studio space that hosted regular business events before covid could be turned into an apartment.

Like many other businesses, Mullion Cove Hotel says the covid pandemic has had a big impact on how they operate.

As a result, they ended their meeting and business events. The studio space remains empty for the majority of the year.

The proposed plans for Mullion Cove Hotel. Westlink Design.

Submitted by Mr Reid of Westlink Design Limited on behalf of the hotel - the serviced apartment will provide two double bedrooms with an en-suite and bathroom. The living area will be open plan providing a lounge space, dining facilities and a small kitchen. The access from the link corridor will remain in place along with the alternative pedestrian door on the east side and accessed from the dedicated parking bays.

Parking for two cars will be provided on the east side of the building with a turning space directly behind. Disabled access will be provided via a gently sloping ramp leading down from the parking spaces to the external pedestrian door.

Guests will also have access to a small raised patio area to the west of the building.

A concluding statement reads: "We believe that the proposed serviced apartment will make use of a building that at present is not utilitised to its full potential and it will now provide desired accommodation and facilitate the changing hospitality demands. The external appearance of the building will remain very similar, but will be updated and finishes improved with the renovation to match in with the high standards of the Mullion Cove Hotel."

The status of the application is "awaiting decision".
