Your Voice, a Cornwall based mental health charity, is setting up weekly live sessions for women who feel isolated and want to connect with others in lockdown.

The sessions will be from a live feed via the Your Voice Women's Online Support Group, which you can join here.

It will be hosted by the founder of the Your Voice, Natasha Long who says it will be a virtual 'chinwag' with the options of people asking questions, offloading and receiving support.

Natasha told Nub News:

"I'll just be having a casual chat about how I'm finding the isolation period, & asking god others are finding it. I'll talk about hot topics, and ask them to comment on how they're getting in or if they have any tips.

"I think a lot of people are not lucky enough to have their family unit in the home and are feeling very isolated. People worry about burdening others with their feelings of loneliness and suffer in silence. This has a huge impact on Mental Health.

"There are also women who may find the isolation hard due to being confined with the family unit they would normally have a reprieve from - ether it is work, kids at school, husband at work or meeting friends.

"Then there are our valued key workers who will be feeling the pressure more than ever and may want a space to chat & discuss any particular issues they're really struggling with.

"I'd like to think we can offer a firm of socialising with the opportunity to discuss Mental Health struggles."

Your Voice the support group is a space for women to socialise and discuss anything they want, and Natasha believes that now is an important time to take care of our mental health.

She added:

"Mental Health has such a huge impact on our 'regular' day to day lives and with our routines being taken away it's a huge blow to how many people manage their Mental Health.

"The worries that we may normally just live with are suddenly heightened -whether it is financial worries, concerns about how our children are doing, are our friends and families safe, will our communities survive; the list is incredibly long.

"And of course, the isolation brings loneliness. Even those who are within a busy household may feel lonely. Pressures are increased & the lack of an 'escape route' can feel overwhelming.

"Women who are in volatile relationships may feel even more trapped and have no outlet for their fears. Older ladies may be missing seeing their usual social circles. Younger girls are missing their peer groups and the support that comes with them.

"It'll be the first time I've ever done anything like it and whilst I'm nervous I'm also incredibly excited to continue to bring support from Your Voice."
