This month the Top House Inn announced the appointment of their new head chef Scarlett Godding, having already worked there for two years as a sous chef she has now been given the chance to run the kitchen at 24 years old.

I spoke to Scarlett to find out what customers could expect from their new head chef, and she said: "I want it to be really friendly and welcoming, have something on the menu for everyone. On the specials, I will make sure there's always a vegan, fish, and meat option but I will also listen to customers to find out what people want to be eating."

She may not have been in the job long but Scarlett has already released a new menu for us to get stuck into.

Scarlett is not stopping there either, she explained to me just one of the ideas that she wants to bring in over the next few months, Scarlett said: "I want to start arranging a themed night each month, it could be Indian food, American dishes, or even a tapas and cocktail night.

"I will have a new sous chef joining me in February called Ashleigh Collins, we can then start to plan the dates and make sure it's the same day each month so people can have it in their diary."

Top House Inn owners Andy and Margret shared a message on social media when they announced the news, they said: "Scarlett has been with us since we took over the pub and has literally worked from the ground up, paying her dues, learning the business, and proving her dedication and loyalty and it is a well-deserving promotion.

"We love to encourage hard work while encouraging our staff to grow and have enjoyed being part of Scarlett's journey. Now it is over to you Scarlett to show us what you can do."

You can keep up to date with all the new menu ideas from Scarlett and the team on social media here: Top House Inn or on the website here: The Top House Inn.
