Meals for Helston has joined up with Food4Heroes, combining their forces to continue serving meals to NHS staff.

Meals for Helston was set up by professional chef Paul Stephens and his partner Emily Close with the intention to feed the staff at the frontline of the Coronavirus pandemic at Helston Community Hospital.

Paul and Emily announced the move on Facebook, saying:

"After careful consideration, we have made the decision to join the national charity Food4Heroes and cook alongside the team of chefs there.

"Over the past two weeks, Helston Community Hospital has received meals from both Food4Heroes and ourselves. As Food4Heroes is a national initiative this will provide a more sustainable service to the NHS staff for the longest amount of time.

"Any remaining donations will be transferred to Food4Heroes and please keep donating to this wonderful charity so we can feed our front line heroes.

"We used the last of the fresh meat and most of the remaining dried goods today to provide spaghetti and meatballs for the heroes of Helston hospital. Big thanks to C & E Retallack Butchers for donating some delicious pork which we will cook overnight for the final offering from Meals for Helston NHS."

Nub News reported earlier on last week that Food4Heroes had launched to serve Helston, you can find out more here.

Paul and Emily praised the community for their "overwhelming" support towards Meals for Helston, they added:

"A massive thank you to everyone who helped to make this happen, it's been a real pleasure cooking for the heroes. A special thanks to Henlys Bar and Restaurant for allowing us to use the property, Scorse Foods, Mrs K's Fruit & Veg and all of the wonderful kind donations we have been receiving from businesses and individuals alike."
