A man has been taken to hospital after a serious collision on the A3083, near Helston.

Devon and Cornwall Police say they were contacted at around 9:20 pm on Thursday the 22 June following reports of a collision involving a white coloured Honda Jazz and a black Sym 125cc motorcycle on the A3083 junction near an unclassified road leading to Gunwalloe, Helston in Cornwall.

South Western Ambulance Service, Cornwall Air Ambulance, and the police all attended the incident.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: "The rider of the motorbike who is a 19-year-old local man was treated at the scene having sustained significant injuries; he was subsequently airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth."

The A3083 between Hospital Cross, Helston, and Culdrose roundabout was closed for around six hours while scene investigation work took place.

Officers from the Roads Policing Team have thanked members of the public who stopped and assisted at the scene prior to emergency services arriving.

Police are appealing for witnesses particularly those with dashcam footage that could assist with the investigation.
