Local groups and organisations in Helston recently received a financial boost thanks to the town council.
The current council policy is to consider grant applications twice a year, with the first review of the year in September.
The total budget for grants is £20,000, at a recent full council meeting there were 10 applications for grants with nearly £16,000 shared between groups.
Applying were Epworth Hall, Helston Athletic Football Club, Helston Bowling Club, Helston Community Meals, Helston Cricket Club, Helston Town Band, Lizard CHILD Trust, and Southerly Point Co-operative Multi-Academy Trust.
Full list of grants:

Helston Community Meals - £3,100Helston Cricket Club - £2,000
Helston Town Band - £2,000Lizard CHILD Trust - £985
Southerly Point Co-operative Multi-Academy Trust - £1,700 The money will be used for various things, with the football club looking to secure funding for necessary ground improvements, adding: "Failure to meet the additional ground grading requirements by the 31st March 2022 would almost certainly result in the club being relegated back to the South West Peninsula League, step 6 of the National Football League Pyramid." Helston Bowling Club were looking for funds to improve the outside ditches of the green and to remove the existing rubber pieces and replace with rubber matting. "This would all benefit outdoor bowlers in general and the playing experience," the club said. Helston Community Meals applied for the funding to replace their domestic cooker with a commercial oven, as the equipment is being used much more often. Helston Town Band will put the money into the Flora Day Uniform, that will put them in a position to provide new hats to go with the new blue jackets already obtained for the next Flora Day.Carry on the conversation on our Twitter and Facebook pages.
