Tickets are now live for a "rare and exciting" opportunity to explore Goonhilly Earth Station as part of their space celebrations.
Goonhilly Earth Station, based at Goonhilly Downs, has been instrumental to space exploration for six decades yet remains shrouded in mystery and closed to the public for over a decade.
On the 23rd of July, Goonhilly 60 will offer a rare and exciting opportunity to set foot on the historic site to enjoy an interstellar programme of curated music, talks and educational workshops, on the Orbit stage, for all the family – set amongst the satellite dishes and backdropped by Goonhilly vistas and the breath-taking beauty of the Lizard Peninsula.
Goonhilly Earth Station's major satellites were named after Cornish legends such as Guinevere, Isolde, and Merlin – and Arthur, perhaps the most iconic was responsible for transmitting the historic TV pictures of the Apollo 11 moon landings to 600 million people globally.
Goonhilly 60 is the latest project, hosted at Goonhilly Earth Station, from the team behind Apollo 50 – the successful one-day science, music and arts festival held at Goonhilly Earth Station in 2019, to mark the historic 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.
Event tickets are still on sale, with optional car parking and camping options also available.
