Helston's Coronation Park has issued an appeal to anybody who might have information after a duck was found "abandoned" in the park.

After a few days off for the festive period, the park team returned to find a Muscovy duck abandoned into the wild - something which is a criminal offence.

A spokesperson for Coronation Park said:

"I would like to remind everyone that it is a criminal offence to abandon animals in the wild (Animal Welfare Act 2006), committing this offence is punishable by imprisonment and/or fine.

"Contacting the RSPCA should always be the first point of contact, then a local vets or sanctuary. Abandoning an animal in the wild is unacceptable.

"If anyone has any information regarding the new Muscovy can you please contact the Police in 101 quoting the following crime number AR109792."
