The May Day parade got the town excited for Flora Day as huge crowds lined the streets to hear Helston Town Band.

The parade is typically used for a bit of dance practice before the big day as the band plays Flora Dance tunes in the morning and evening processions.

Yesterday's parade (2nd) was very busy as people celebrated the return of the iconic events after covid.

The photos were shared with Nub News by Richard Cooper of Cornwall in Focus, he added:

"If you're not from Helston this is just another town band to you but to Helstonians this means we're only days away from Flora Day, to some the biggest day of the year.

"The evening parade was especially packed and was a perfect opportunity for people to tag onto the back of the band and get some practice in for the Flora dance before the big day."

As it will take place on a Saturday this year (7th), the Flora Day Association is anticipating the day will be very well attended as people take the opportunity to visit Helston and enjoy the unique event.
