Helston Town Band has put out an appeal to raise money for new uniforms in time for Flora Day 2020.

The Town Band has said their iconic gold-braided blue jackets and hats have faded to an unrecognisable colour due to past events in the poor weather.

The fundraiser reads:

"Unfortunately, despite a successful Christmas season, we are still well short of our target of £10,000 and so we are seeking help to raise this sum, in a bid to replace the uniforms by Flora Day 2020.

"A jacket alone costs £220! We need in excess of 30 of them, to ensure that when we step off from the Guildhall, at 7am on 8 May, we will look the part.

"So, if you are passionate about Helston, Flora Day and the Town Band, then we are appealing to you for your help. We would be so grateful for any amount that you would be able to donate to our fund… big or small."

The fundraiser has currently raised £140 of their £5000 target.
