Helston Theatre Company take prizes at Drama Association Awards

The Cornwall Drama Association 2018-2019 Theatre Festival Winners were announced on Friday.

Helston Theatre Company took home a host of awards including:

- Best Set in a Musical for Whistle Down the Wind

- Special Award for Tabby the Cat in Dick Whittington

- Technical Achievement for Whistle Down the Wind

- Special Award for the Best Steam Train in Wind in the Willows

- Best Actor in a Musical to Jonathan Tucker for My Fair Lady

- Best Actress in a Musical for Caya Murphy for Whistle Down the

Wind

- Best Pantomime for Dick Whittington

Helston Theatre Company Chairman Paul Blaber, told Nub News:

"I am a very proud Chairman. We entered four productions into this years Cornwall Drama Association Awards (My Fair Lady, Dick Whittington, Whistle Down the Wind, and The Wind in the Willows) and each production won at least one award.

"It takes a huge team of people to help stage a show and so these awards are for each and every one of them, as well as the individuals who won and the creative leads of each show.

"Helston Theatre Company continues to go from strength to strength and these awards are a wonderful recognition of our high production standards and thriving theatrical community."
