Tracy Orchard, owner of garden maintenance service Little Miss Orchard in Helston has set up "Propagations Corner" which will upcycle garden waste, with most of the money going to charity.

"In the past, I would clear the gardens and dump as waste. One day it dawned. All the plant care waste could become new plants through propagations. Since then I've taking cuttings that seem like garden waste and propagated into new plants", Tracy Orchard said.

"Costs are relatively low for the process. Therefore I have decided to support a charity through each plant sale, some plants will be sold at £2.25 with £2 per sale will go to the Street Food Project", she added.

The Street Food Project (Penzance) is raising £2,500 to support the homeless and vulnerable during the Coronavirus outbreak by providing essential emergency food packages.

Tracy said:

"Its a slow process allowing nature to do what it does best.

Each of the cuttings is not forced grown under ideal conditions or under protection from the elements. They are hardy to all outdoor conditions, and still, they grow new roots and eventually new shoots to become a new plant."

"I'm very opinionated when it comes to unnecessary uses of plastics. Therefore I only reuse plastic pots that come my way. I will not be buying any new plastic pots."

The new scheme has gained a positive reaction on social media, with other residents offering to donate and help out.

The Street Food Project commented:

"This is awesome Tracy!"

Other residents commented:

"Brilliant!! I love everything about it."

"I have loads of plastic plant pots that you can have."

"Fantastic lovely!"
