A former police constable who was being investigated for allegedly having sex with vulnerable women has resigned before his misconduct hearing.

Ex - PC Richard Hosken-Johns was to face a misconduct hearing yesterday for numerous allegations that had been made against him between September 2012 and January 2018.

It is alleged that Hosken-Johns had sexual relationships with two vulnerable women whom he had met in his capacity as a police officer, as well as absent himself from duty to have sex with these women.

It is also alleged that Hosken-Johns made disparaging remarks about colleagues in messages to the women.

He was also to be investigated into his alleged use of the police computer system in relation to one of the women for a non-policing purpose.

Hosken-Johns was suspended from duty during the investigation and resigned before the misconduct trial.

The misconduct hearing yesterday went ahead without him in attendance at Devon and Cornwall Police's Headquarters in Exeter.

The hearing will continue today.
