Helston Town Mayor John Martin praised the communities response to the council's Coronavirus Community Emergency Plan after the number of volunteers passed 300.
Volunteers were asked to come forward to help carry out activities for those self-isolating or having difficulties such as: picking up shopping, posting mail, collecting urgent supplies, giving a regular friendly phone call and or check.
John Martin told Nub News:
"A wonderful response, 300 volunteers means we can comfortably cover the area and some of the other surrounding areas.
"Wonderful community spirit, the message is getting out there and even people who haven't volunteered are checking on their neighbours to make sure they are okay, nothing to do with our response team but it is great to see.
"It is quite a unique event, we are all learning how to deal with it and that is where this community spirit comes in, just looking after each other.
"There are still some people out on the streets in groups which is disappointing but hopefully that will get less and less as people start to realise how important it is to stay at home."
The council is hoping to have 400 volunteers by the end of next week.
