Helston Flora Day is fast approaching and another popular event will return on bank holiday Monday.

The May Day parade with Helston Town Band is traditionally held on May 1st, but due to the date falling on a Sunday, it will be held on Monday, May 2nd.

People use the parade to get in a bit of dance practice before the big day as the band plays Flora Dance tunes in the morning and evening processions.

Due to unforeseen difficulties, the route will be somewhat shorter this year.

Helston Town Band will meet at 7am outside the Guildhall and then proceed along Meneage Street until the end of the one way system at the junction with The Parade at the end of Trengrouse Way.

They will then turn around and march back down. At the lights, they will turn right up Wendron Street then left down Penrose Road and onto Church Street.

The band will turn right at the lights and along Coinagehall Street. At the bottom of Coinagehall Street, they will parade around the bowling green before returning to the Guildhall.

A second parade then takes place at 7pm. People are invited to join the band for either of both parades.
