A pre-application has been submitted by Helston's Higher Goonhusband Farm exploring the possibility of building a log cabin to offer as holiday accommodation.

However, feedback on the application from the planning officer stated support couldn't be given to the plans due to it being contrary to planning policies relating to sustainable tourism, the location of housing development, and some modest harm to the landscape.

Submitted by Zoe Hall Architectural Services on behalf of Mr Roger Benney, the plans are for a traditional log cabin on unused agricultural land.

The application reads:

"The new landscaping will compromise of a new access road in the field with a parking and turning area. An area will also be fenced off and planted with shrubs as an amenity area for use by the holiday let for BBQs and outdoor seating.

"The area of land we propose to site the cabin is in little use and has an existing access point so feels the correct location which will look across the valley at the fields and woodland."

The planning officer for the application said they were unable to lend support 'in-principle' to the proposal and would not encourage the submission of a planning application.
