Helston: Heavy traffic following collision near Culdrose

A3083 both ways re-opened, accident cleared from B3293 to A394 Meneage Road.

There are reports of delays around Helston following an accident near RNAS Culdrose.

Local residents have said there has been an accident this evening (21st) on the Lizard Road just past Culdrose (Lizard side). It is understood the incident has taken place at the Gunwalloe turn-off just after 6pm.

"Road is currently blocked in both directions and looks like it could be for a while," one said.

Gweek is also said to be "gridlocked" and people have been urged to avoid the area.

A Devon and Cornwall Police traffic update reads:

"A3083 both ways closed, very slow traffic due to accident from B3293 to A394 Meneage Road."
