A popular Helston grocery shop is set to welcome back customers from next week as it prepares to get back to normality.

Gillian's Larder, based on Meneage Street will be open from Monday at 9am.

Gillian's Larder sells loose groceries and specialises in herbs and spices, which are stored in hygienic tubs, bins and jars.

The move was announced this week on social media saying:

"We are opening up on Monday. We have missed you! Keep well and see you soon."

Gillian Geer, owner of Gillian's Larder told Nub News about the reopening, she said:

"It is a bit of a worry because the reason I shut was that I couldn't get any supplies, now that I am opening again I have had to scour everywhere to get supplies which has cost a huge amount of money and what if there aren't any people who want to buy anything now but other than that we are doing a deep clean to make sure everything is ready to go but it is a bit of a worry."

New measures will be in place to follow social distancing rules, Gillian added:

"Before it used to be that you came in and helped yourself to the goods but that can't happen so we are putting a counter across the front of the shop, have everything packaged and serve people like an old fashioned shop rather than letting them wander about, the whole way the shop has to run will change.

"Of course I am looking forward to seeing everybody, we did have a lot of very loyal customers we just need more now because of this 10-week break it is difficult for people to get back because they are so used to now going to supermarkets but we will see."

Residents commented on the reopening with one person saying:

"That's so wonderful! Looking forward to getting some of your delicious ham."

A second comment read:

"I have missed your shop yay!"
