Warnings have been issued to Helston residents by Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service regarding reports of a scam going around.

The scam started at Looe Community Fire Station, with somebody making phone calls claiming to represent the station asking for donations for a community newsletter.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said in a statement today:

"Please be aware of a scam that we have been made aware of that has taken place in Looe.

"Please be aware and remember that we would never make phone calls asking for money.

"If you have any information regarding this scam, please make a note of any details and get in touch with us either via email at [email protected] or through our social media accounts."
