A petition has been launched by staff at a Helston care home in an attempt to prevent a temporary closure.
Announced last week, Cornwall Care said they were set to undergo a restructuring.
It will involve closures of Headlands in Carbis Bay, which will merge with nearby Trewartha; Mountford in Truro, which will merge with nearby Redannick and Trengrouse in Helston.
This is part of a move to cope with the devastating impact of covid-19 as the care provider suffers from recruitment and financial issues.
In response to the restructuring staff from Trengrouse nursing home have set up a petition - which has gained over 60 signatures in a matter of hours.
They believe that temporarily shutting the home could have a "devastating effect" on residents' health and wellbeing.
The petition reads:
"Trengrouse nursing home is under a consultation period. Their aim is to start the process of mothballing the home along with two other care homes within Cornwall.
"Trengrouse is one of the few homes that provides person-centred care for people who have complex care needs such as advanced dementia. To temporarily shut this home could lead to devastating effects on the residents' health and wellbeing.
"Trengrouse has been in the heart of Helston for many years and it would be such a shame to see the building stand empty for a prolonged period of time. Please stand with us by supporting our cause and keeping the residents in their home."
