Helston church appeals for help

A church in Helston is calling on the community for help to cover its running costs.

St Michael's Church at Church Lane is struggling to meet annual costs of around £60,000 for building maintenance, repairs and clergy living costs.

Last year, funds fell short by £11,000 and the church is appealing for a boost to ensure the building stays open for worship and to safeguard its future.

The church serves as place for services, baptisms, weddings and funerals and is also a venue for concerts and festivals. The nearby Andrew Hall is also home to several local organisations including dance and keep fit classes, Brownies and community groups.

A church spokesperson said: "We are asking Helston people to make regular small donations of £5 or £10 a month, or whatever they would like to give, to keep St Michael's Church working for Helston. Donation leaflets can be found in the church or at stmichaelschurchhelston.org.uk."
