A Helston based charity shop is appealing for people to 're-gift' for their fundraiser.

The Fishermen's Mission on Meneage Street supports both active and retired fishermen and their families in times of hardship.

The shop is the only Fishermen's Mission charity shop in the UK.

Melinda King, manager of the shop, told Nub News:

"I decided 3 years ago to start this, we have a collection box in our shop and have been receiving the gifts since the 28th December, this is ongoing throughout the year."

New unwanted gifts can go into the collection box for the Unwanted Gift Amnesty.

The amnesty comes around at a time when the BBC will air a new documentary series tomorrow evening following Cornwall's fishing communities. Cornwall: This Fishing Life is a six-part series.

Melinda added:

"The gifts are saved and used in our pop up Christmas shop, as they are new they are easy to display and sell. No target, we just want to make money to support our local fishermen and their families, especially at this time of year when it's not always easy to get out.

"The gifts are also used during our children only evening, when they choose their gifts for families, and we wrap for them."
