The Beehive Bar, Helston, could be getting shut down by the council after repeated public nuisance offences.

In a recent 'Extract From Premises Application', an application to grant a formal review of Beehive's license, the Licence Compliance Team from Cornwall Council states regular noise complaints are received regarding the premises.

The application describes:

"The noise is produced from two sources: the constant drum and bass musical activities which a complainant has described as a large heartbeat from a horror film.

"This combined with human voices, often very loud, screaming, shouting and swearing as they gather on the wooden decking close to their property.

"Numerous informal and then later formal interventions from the Environmental Health and License Compliance teams spanning at least twelve months have been actioned using a graduated approach to enforcement as per the Neighbourhoods and Public Projection Environment Policy.

The extract application goes on to describe how license owner, Neal Paul Hicks, has not fully engaged with the council and still breaches the terms of his conditions on an almost weekly basis.

The application states that both the Environmental Health and Planning Teams have provided support for the review.

Two members of the community have also provided witness statements.

The application states how Mr Hicks did say he would attempt to reduce noise emissions from the premises after acknowledging his failure to previously comply.

The licence Compliance team feels like Mr Hicks' actions are "too little, too late".
