Town Clerk Pamela Lavelle has addressed the Helston community as another year nears a close.
Pamela officially took over the reins in January 2021 - following the retirement of Chris Dawson.
Pamela has been with the council for around 15 years - she told Nub News that made the transition smoother as she has been around the offices for so long. She said it was a "natural progression" to move into the role.
A whirlwind year has seen Pamela deal with an ever-changing covid situation and a second lockdown - saying she was very proud of the town's response to the pandemic. The Town Council worked to set up a community support service and helpline.
"Thank you for everyone's patience and understanding in a difficult year. We are hoping 2022 will bring some normality and we can have some of our bigger events back," she commented ahead of the new year.
Flora Day is one major event Pamela said everyone is looking forward to. This year's celebration was due to have taken place on May 8th but for the second year running was cancelled - due to ongoing coronavirus restrictions.
However, there was some good news as the Flora Day Association revealed the 2022 events will be going ahead.
"I hope everyone has a brilliant festive break and hoping 2022 is a positive year for all," Pamela added in some final words to residents.
The Town Clerk's office is now closed and reopens at 9am on the 4th January 2022.
