Grants awarded to Helston organisations

At last Thursday's Full Council meeting it was announced which organisations would be recieving grants from Helston Town Council.

Each year, Helston Town Council makes provisions in its budget for grants to assist voluntary bodies, local clubs and not-for-profit organisations in the town equally.

The application reads:

"Helston Town Council recognises the value of voluntary and community activity and its contribution to local residents' well-being. The Council is committed to supporting and strengthening the many community groups that help make a positive difference. The aim of the Council's Grants Awarding Policy is to promote a vibrant and active community in Helston."

The following grants were pledged:

£100 to Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust

£4,258 to Epworth Hall - Central

£1,080 to Hellys International Guitar Festival

£3,000 to Helston Athletic Football Club

£500 to Helston Bowling Club

£300 to Helston Harvest Fair

£500 to Helston Makes It!

£740 to Helston Memory Community Café

£1,000 to Helston Phoenix Mentoring Project

£850 to Helston Railway Preservation Society

£2,000 to Helston RFC

£2,000 to Helston Town Band

£500 to Re-vamp the Ramps

£500 to South Kerrier Alliance CIC

£2,000 to The Fishermen's Mission

Melinda King, Manager at The Fishermen's Mission, said the grant will be put towards "the welfare of the fishermen and their families."
