Funding for visits between twin towns Helston and Plougasnou

Helston and its twin town, Plougasnou in Brittany are to benefit from a £10,000 grant for visits.
The visits will specifically help in finding out how the communities are tackling climate change and biodiversity.
Helston has been twinned with Plougasnou for the last ten years and, despite the Covid pandemic, town twinners have kept up a vibrant link with their friends in France.
Now, in a very generous gesture, the British Embassy in Paris has offered a grant of ten thousand pounds to be spent jointly by the two towns on sharing how they are tackling environmental issues.
The embassy has made one important stipulation which is that all the money must be spent by the end of February, although the project may take place at a later date.
The bulk of it will fund travel between the two towns, with visits from Plougasnou planned at Easter and a return visit to Plougasnou in May.
For this reason, Helston and District Town Twinning Association said they are urgently seeking suitable groups, schools, or individuals who would be interested in visiting Plougasnou, learning about their environmental issues, and reporting back to the wider community. Ideally, this could involve young people and be of benefit to both towns.
"Please do not be shy in coming forward. If we don't use the money, we lose it," the association added.
