Emergency services were called out to the scene of a collision in Newtown St Martin.

Emergency services were tasked to a serious collision yesterday afternoon in Newtown St Martin, on the Lizard Peninsula.

Residents reported a Waitrose delivery van smashing through a house, just before 12pm, Friday 16th June.

Police, ambulance, and fire crews from St Keverne, Mullion, and Tolvaddon responded to the incident.

On arrival, fire teams discovered a light goods vehicle had collided with a residential property causing the property to become unsafe.

The road from Kestle Barton turn-off to the B3293 St Keverne turn-off was closed for a short while as work got underway clearing up the scene - there was significant damage to the property with cracks in the building.

The driver of the van suffered a hand injury and the owner of the property was left with minor injuries and taken to hospital.

The road reopened later on Friday, no further injuries were reported.

In a statement, Waitrose praised the quick actions of the emergency services.
