Founder of mental health charity wants to open shop in Helston
Founder of Your Voice, Natasha Long, wants to open a charity shop in Helston to help raise regular funds for her women's mental health charity.
Your Voice is a charity which focuses on providing support for those suffering in Cornwall with mental health issues.
She aims to use the money raised from the shop to further fund the support groups and also to start some social groups, with Zumba classes planned to promote the advantage exercise has on the brain.
The charity had its first women support meeting in Helston last week and was a huge success, with many women getting in touch hoping more locations will be available in the future.
Your Voice is also planning to hold these groups in Truro, Falmouth, St Austell, Hale and more.
The charities ultimate plan is to open a wellness centre in the future.
Natasha Long, the founder of Your Voice, told us:
"I woke up one Sunday morning and had a realisation, people suffering from mental health issues in Cornwall aren't getting the support they need.
"The result of that is people committing suicide, people going missing, teenagers not being able to get out of bed in the morning - I do not know an age group that isn't affected".
Two months ago Natasha saw a gap that needed to be filled. The charity, Man Down Cornwall, does amazing work in helping suffering males - she wants Your Voice to do the same with their women support groups.
Speaking to Natasha further about how people could help, she said:
"I just want everyone to be involved. The fact is there is a crisis. Please beg people to come forward if they're struggling.
"Man Down Cornwall really has changed the way men view their mental health. So men, if you're struggling, go to them and ladies please come to us".
