Helston & The Lizard Foodbank has launched an appeal to help give struggling families and people a festive meal.

The foodbank is collecting donations of food for hampers to give to those unable to provide their own Christmas meal.

Each year the organisation distributes food boxes to local families with children who receive free school meals to help through Christmas.

The organisation also serve Christmas lunch at Mawgan Village Hall on Christmas Day for anyone lonely, bereaved, homeless or just in need.

Donations of food can be dropped to The Mustard Seed at 14-16 Wendron Street in Helston. The town council is also accepting monetary donations to add to the £500 donated by the Mayor's Fund.

Cheques should be made payable to 'Town Mayor's Welfare Fund' and can be handed into the Town Clerk's office, or posted to The Guildhall, Helston, TR13 8ST and marked 'Foodbank'.

If you would like to book a Christmas dinner at Mawgan, call the Mustard Seed on 01326 280039.
