Falmouth and Helston feature in Panorama special: Surviving The Pay Squeeze

Last night (20th March) at 8 pm on BBC One, Ros Atkins a journalist and Analysis Editor who grew up in Cornwall and even went to primary school in Helston looks into how people in the county are coping with the cost of living crisis.
The episode lasts 30 minutes and highlights how badly people are being affected, especially in Cornwall which has become one of the country's most deprived areas.
Ros speaks to a number of struggling people around Cornwall including Andy who is a full-time nurse that fears he may have to quit, as soon as he may not be able to afford to stay in the job.
Later in the episode, Ros visits Falmouth to meet the team working at Engineered Arts who are the leading designer and manufacturer of humanoid entertainment robots in the UK. One of their robots has already appeared on TV before Robot created by Falmouth-based company delivers alternative Christmas day message on Channel 4.
Ros speaks to the team about the lack of investment from the UK government in different areas such as infrastructure and technology, although Ameca the robot gives some hope, the creators aren't as positive.
Towards the end of the episode, Helston Athletic FC Women speak to Ros about how hard it is living in Cornwall as he summarises what a difficult situation the country is in.
