A garage owner in Helston is thanking loyal customers for their support after announcing the business will close after more than three decades of trading.

Castle Green Garage first opened its doors in 1987 offering motorists up-to-date MOT and servicing facilities. The business later expanded with the addition of a car and van hire service.

Louise Dean, who took over the business at Castle Green in 2012 after the death of husband Ian, said it was time for a new start for the family.

"The garage has been a huge part of our lives for such a long time and continued to be a family business with son James working there," she said.

"However, he has decided to follow his own career path and I felt like this was the right time to begin a new chapter. On behalf of the whole team, and my younger son Andrew, I want to thank each one of our customers for their loyal support."

Long-standing mechanic Gary Rogers and newer recruit Ryan Jennings have both secured new positions locally, and Robert Boulden will continue to work with customers privately and can be contacted on 07516 744657.

The garage and car van hire business will honour all existing bookings before finally closing the doors on December 22.
