New electric vehicle charging points have been installed in Helston's Trengrouse Way Extension Car park.

Cornwall Council has installed 2 fast and 1 rapid EV charging unit with both units able to charge 2 vehicles at the same time.

The council has said that the rapid unit accepts contactless payment but to use the fast units, you need to register for a SWARCO E.Connect account either by requesting a SWARCO E.Connect RFID card or by downloading the E.Connect app.

You can find more information here: Swarco E.Connect (swarcoeconnect.org)

One resident on social media has shared their disappointment at the fact users will have to pay for parking as well as the charge points. The cost of charging is set by the supplier SWARCO but is at market rates.

These charge points are part of Cornwall Council's Drive EV2 Project, funded by the European Regional Development Fund. The project has installed over 150 new EV charge points in 42 Cornwall Council car parks for use starting this summer.

Helston Town Council has reminded users to contact the operator SWARCO about any faults or problems using the charge points on 020 8515 8444.

You can also find two charging devices and four connectors available at the Tesco Superstore in Helston with free parking for up to three hours. Find more information here: Tesco Superstore Helston EV charging point
