Following its debut at the Devon County Show, Devon & Cornwall Police are giving the opportunity for a lucky youngster to choose the official name of the newest addition to its fleet, a John Deer tractor.

The currently nameless tractor has been loaned free of charge to Devon & Cornwall Police by local agricultural machinery dealership, Masons Kings, is decked out in distinctive Police livery and proved a big hit with the young (and young at heart) show goers at the Devon County Show. The tractor will be seen across various other agricultural shows and events across the region this summer.

Now the force is giving the opportunity for anyone aged 12 or under to pick the official name of the new recruit, joining its sister tractor at Dorset Police, which is appropriately named 'Robo Crop'.

The competition is open until midnight on Sunday 11 June with the winning name announced at the Woofstock Festival happening at Powderham Castle on June 16 -19.

Police Constable Clarke Orchard said, "At the Devon County Show we revealed the new asset, and the response from the public was fantastic.

"As we expected, the tractor sparked lots of informative and enlightening chats with farmers from across the county, but one question that kept being asked surprised us, children wanted to know what the tractors name was. So, we have decided to throw it open to the kids of Devon and Cornwall, send in your suggestions, and give the tractor its official name!"

Entrants must be aged 12 or under and have permission from their parent or guardian.

The competition is open until midnight on 11 June 2023.
