There are reports of delays on the route to The Lizard this afternoon with smoke blowing across the road.

There is said to be heavy traffic causing delays on the A3083 with police and the fire service in attendance - between Ruan Minor and The Lizard.

This could be part of a controlled burn, as shared by David Oates in a Facebook community group earlier today.

He said:

"Today I will be carrying out some controlled burning on heathland I manage.

"This is near to The Lizard road between the cider barn and Mullion holiday park. I will do multiple small burns on land both sides of the main road.

"I have a range of specialist equipment and experienced personel on site to protect fences and habitat.

"This management is essential to promote a healthy heathland and protect our rare flora and fauna we have on The Lizard."

Approach with caution. More to follow.
