A Helston based choir have organised a way to keep connected and keep singing during the lockdown period.

Culdrose Military Wives Choir has moved their rehearsal sessions online to Zoom.

Melinda King, Manager at Fishermen's Mission Helston and a member of the choir, told Nub News:

"Last Thursday we had an online choir rehearsal which 34 ladies joined. Although we couldn't hear each other singing, (as Pete had an excellent mute button), we could all speak to each other, see one of our ladies new baby and just sing along at home, whilst Pete conducted us.

"There had been a couple of trials with our music panel to make sure that it worked, and it certainly did, especially to remind us of the love and support we give each other. We are now going to have virtual coffee mornings, our easter egg party will also now be virtual, and choir will remain virtual on a Thursday, with a break at 8pm to go and clap in the street.

"It's especially important at the moment to show our support, a few of our ladies are nurses and teachers, and other key jobs, but also a couple of ladies husbands are being deployed on ships and other frontline duties, which involves them being away from home. This is difficult at the best of times."
