Mullion School has provided an update on Coronavirus, stating that the school will remain open for now.

However, information has also been put out on what will happen should the school close.

The notice reads:

"Southerly Point Co-operative Multi-Academy Trust would

like to assure our parents, staff and children that we are

closely monitoring, and following the latest information

and advice issued by Public Health England with regards to

the Coronavirus [COVID-19] outbreak.

"We keep in daily contact with Public Health England to stay abreast of the changing situation and we will update you accordingly. We stress that we have stringent and robust systems in place to ensure that daily cleaning procedures are thorough and effective. Children's personal hygiene routines are enforced daily by school staff as an integral part of their day."

This notice comes after five cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Cornwall.

The notice continues:

"We hope it is unlikely that we will need to close any of our schools due to the virus. However, if a positive coronavirus case is identified from within our staff or pupils, we will seek immediate advice

from Public Health England. If there is an enforced closure of schools by Public Health England, we will inform you through the school's usual communication channels.

"Where a closure happens within a school day, a text or phone message / Radio alert will be sent to all parents and no pupil will be released from our care until a parent has collected them or

parents have given the school permission for the pupil to walk home.

During the period of closure, your child will be provided with work to complete at home.

"Personal hygiene is important during this time and please can you talk to your children about this. If any of your family are diagnosed with the virus, we would need you to inform your Headteacher as soon as possible."
