Late yesterday afternoon (21st) coastguard teams were alerted to a casualty at Lankidden Cove.

On scene, it was discovered that an individual had fallen 15 feet and sustained a back injury and fractured fingers.

Porthoustock Coastguard Rescue Team assisted by Mullion CRT worked to evacuate the casualty.

A spokesperson for Porthoustock Coastguard Team said:

"On scene, safe access to the beach was established with the ambulance crew however due to the mechanism of injury sustained after the casualty fell approx 15 feet from the cliff, recovery options were limited. After consideration and communication with the ambulance crew, the helicopter was the best option.

"Team members cleared the beach of the public and made a safe helicopter landing sight. The casualty was packaged into a vacuum stretcher and team members assisted with a carry to the helicopter where the casualty was conveyed to hospital."
