Weekly Barclays drop-in sessions at the Methodist Church are due to start following the closure of the Helston branch.

The bank on Coinagehall Street officially closed this week (February 9th) - after a 15 percent reduction in counter transactions in the last two years with more people moving to online banking.

In addition, eight out of ten (82 percent) of customers at the branch were using different ways to bank.

However, to ensure people can continue to manage their money and receive financial expertise, Barclays representatives will be visiting the Methodist Church every week.

Sessions will be held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the Helston Methodist Church from February 14th, 9:30am – 2:30pm.

The next nearest Barclays branches are Camborne and Falmouth. Everyday transactions can also be completed at the Post Office on Coinagehall Street.

"We do not intend to make anyone redundant as a result of this closure. Colleagues working at the Helston branch will be offered alternative roles in the bank," a spokesperson for Barclays added.
