West Cornwall Wildlife Rescue and Rehab have appealed for witnesses to the reported attack of a Muscovy duck at Helston Boating Lake.

Residents were urged to check on the animal after it was reportedly punched by a group of teenagers, "I've just been down and checked, they all seem ok," one resident said.

West Cornwall Wildlife Rescue and Rehab said:

"Please ask young people using tik tok Snapchat or Facebook for any evidence of this animal cruelty and wildlife crime to save and call police on 101 to report or online report to 101 or RSPCA.

"Anyone witnessing a wildlife crime or animal cruelty needs to call 999 at the time.

"Will The Boating Lake Managers now get security measures in place? We are happy to talk to them about this. We would advise on more safe nesting resting places, CCTV, patrols, local community involvement and info/ posters boards re Wildlife protection."
